Disney+ has an option for viewers to suggest additional shows and movies for the streaming service, and fans of Freeform’s ‘Cloak & Dagger’ are urging other like-minded viewers to use it to save this recently canceled series. Essentially, Disney+ has a feedback option which allows users to suggest up to three shows or movies. There doesn’t appear to be a limit on the number of times a person can submit feedback, so dedicated subscribers can vote over and over.
Request Cloak & Dagger Season 3… couldn’t hurt. from r/marvelstudios
Of course, the drawback is that if a small number of fanatics vote over and over– artificially inflating the demand for ‘Cloak & Dagger’– and Disney+ does decide to give the show a third season, if only those few viewers tune in, it will have all been for nothing, as Disney+ will just cancel it again.

That brings up another potential obstacle– Disney owns Freeform, so technically it was Disney that canceled it in the first place, due to low ratings. Freeform is a basic cable network, while Disney+ is a premium subscription service. Even if a watcher of ‘Cloak & Dagger’ enjoyed the show for “free,” that doesn’t mean they will carry over to Disney+, if they opt not to subscribe.
And finally, there was the recent shake-up behind the scenes, with Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige assuming creative control of all Marvel offerings– TV, movies, and comics. Jeph Loeb, the former head of Marvel Television is expected to leave Disney by the end of the year. The existing TV shows do not fit the Marvel Studios brand, and under Feige, the Marvel Studios films have never acknowledged the events of the TV shows.

With Marvel Studios making their own TV shows for Disney+, it really wouldn’t make much sense to keep making one that doesn’t live up to this new standard. There is even buzz that Feige and the new regime will discard existing elements from the TV shows, like the Inhumans and Ghost Rider, and introduce new versions that are more in line with the film universe.
In all honesty, I see ‘Cloak & Dagger’s cancellation as just the first of many. ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ will air one final season in 2020. ‘Runaways’ third season arrives on Hulu in December, but I wouldn’t hold my breath expecting a fourth. A new show, ‘Helstrom’ is on its way, but it could very likely be a one-season-wonder.
BUT, if you are a fan of ‘Cloak & Dagger’, there is something that you can do to show your support. So who knows what could happen?
