Star Trek beams down to SDCC

Trekkies attending this year’s San Diego Comic-Con have a huge reason to rejoice as “Star Trek” will be taking over Hall H to show off what they have in store in the coming year!   Back-to-back panels for ‘Star Trek: Discovery‘, ‘Star Trek: Picard‘, and ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ will take place on Saturday, July 20th, 2019 and will run from 11:30 AM-1 PM. Make sure to replicate an early lunch or you’ll be warping out to grab something after it comes to an end!

The event will kick off with ‘Star Trek: Discovery’s appearance and will include Sonequa Martin-Green, executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Michelle Paradise and Heather Kadin. Chief Engineer Reno played by Tig Notaro will be moderating the panel.

Following this will be the world’s first look at the animated series ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ from executive producer Mike McMahan. Rumors have a couple of special guests joining him on stage but who they are and what they’ll be appearing for is still a mystery.

Finally, the event we’ve all been waiting for, Sir Patrick Stewart will be making an appearance ahead of the release of ‘Star Trek: Picard.’ Joining him on stage will be Kurtzman, showrunner Michael Chabon, executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Kadin, along with co-stars Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, and Harry Treadaway.

There is no news if we’ll hear anything about the next round of Star Trek: Short Treks‘ or the upcoming Nickelodean Star Trek series at any of these panels.

Trekkies in attendance also can pick up a couple of sweet “Star Trek” pins that include a Visitor pin and the Picard coat of arms which will be available on the 20th and 21st of July at the Star Trek Universe booth (#4237) on the convention floor. There is also “an immersive transporter experience” which allows fans to board the USS Discovery. Finally, there is also a “Jean-Luc Picard: The First Duty” exhibit that will celebrate Picard’s time as the Enterprise captain on ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation.’ It will be full of props, costumes, and more!

This is one of the most exciting times for Trekkies at San Diego Comic-Con in recent years.

What do you hope we’ll learn about the upcoming “Star Trek” shows at this year’s SDCC? Do you think that an expanded look or any big reveals will happen for ‘Star Trek: Picard’? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
