Star Trek: Short Treks

While ‘Star Trek: Discovery‘ is likely mostly done with Ethan Peck’s Spock and Rebecca Romijn’s Number One, “Star Trek” isn’t! Both actors have been confirmed to return for one of the upcoming ‘Star Trek: Short Treks’ episodes on CBS All Access. While Alex Kurtzman recently mentioned that another set of these “Short Treks” was in the works, there weren’t any real details until Director Mark Pellington dropped a couple of images to share how they were progressing.

The image indicates that one of the episodes he shot back in May is titled “Chaos Theory” and stars the two actors. Also, he included the hashtag #chabon, and while this doesn’t confirm that Michael Chabon wrote the script, it does seem to indicate it. Considering Chabon wrote “Calypso” from the first set of “Short Treks” and is part of the writer’s room on ‘Star Trek: Picard,’ it doesn’t at all feel like a stretch that this is the case.

The teaser doesn’t mention Anson Mount’s Captain Pike, so it seems that it will likely be a focus on these two characters and not the rest of the crew of The Enterprise. You can see the details in the images below:

With The Discovery now being so far in the future, this is one of the few ways it is possible to bring any of the crew from The Enterprise back until a future series or spinoff. Here’s hoping they have an excuse to bring them into the Section 31 series which we’ve heard about!

Are you looking forward to seeing more ‘Star Trek: Short Treks’ released? Is the idea of having Spock and Number One getting more screen time something that you’re thrilled about or were you hoping that these would focus on other areas of the “Star Trek” universe?
