Birds Of Prey Walking It Out In Official Photo
Warner Brothers

Warner Brothers has definitely been sending a certain message when it comes to ‘Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)’— and that is that this is a ‘Harley Quinn’ movie.  Not only was Harley the focus of the trailer, but she is the only character whose name is said in it.  The four posters that were just released for the picture are all solo Harley shots.  It makes one wonder why they even bothered with the ‘Birds of Prey’ part.

But it’s entirely possible that Warner Brothers is just emphasizing Harley, because the character is so popular, especially after Margot Robbie‘s winning portrayal in the 2016 movie ‘Suicide Squad’.  Keep in mind, this is the earliest push for the film, which doesn’t open until February.  There will be many trailers and posters before then, which will hopefully elevate the exposure of the co-stars–  Mary Elizabeth Winstead as The Huntress/Helena Bertinelli, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary/Dinah Lance, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, and Ali Wong in an undisclosed role.

To perhaps kick that off, the studio has released a group photo showing the heroic side of the cast.  Robbie is flanked by Perez, sporting a pair of brass knuckles, Winstead, Basco, and Smollett-Bell, who is carrying Harley’s famous “Goodnight” baseball bat.  Check it out below:

Even though the ‘Birds of Prey’ trailer is available online, you can see it in its big-screen glory this weekend before screenings of ‘Joker’.

Cathy Yan directed ‘Birds of Prey’, based on a script by Christina Hodson.  Robbie also served as executive producer.

‘Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is set to open on February 7, 2020.
