Titans
DC Universe

With ‘Titans’ Season 2 launching this Friday, DC Universe has released a new image of Hawk & Dove, which gives the best look yet of their costumes.  How long will they spend in these suits?  That’s unclear, as the trailer for Season 2 indicates that Hank (Alan Ritchson) is ready to walk away from the super life, although Dawn (Minka Kelly) isn’t.

Season 2 will pit the Titans against Deathstroke (Esai Morales), who it seems was the reason the original team disbanded.  The new season will also introduce his children Rose (Chelsea T. Zhang), who looks to be shacking up with the Titans, and Joseph (Chella Man).  In addition, they will be facing Doctor Light (Michael Mosley).

The first season culminated with Dick (Brenton Thwaites) falling under the spell of Trigon (Seamus Dever).  All previews for Season 2, strangely, seem to gloss over what happens next.  Guess that will become clear on Friday.

Joining the action this year are Krypto, Joshua Orpin as Conner/Superboy, Drew Van Acker as Aqualad (who may have a romantic connection to Donna/Wonder Girl), Iain Glenn as Bruce Wayne, Natalie Gumede as Mercy Graves, and Genevieve Angelson as Dr. Eve Watson.

In addition to Thwaites, Ritchson, and Kelly, returning from Season 1 are Anna Diop as Koriand’r/Starfire, Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth/Raven, Ryan Potter as Garfield Logan/Beast Boy, and Curran Walters, as Jason Todd/New Robin.  Walters has been bumped up to series regular for Season 2, so expect him to play a larger role in the story.

It should be interesting to see how Glenn’s Bruce Wayne factors in, as Dick spent Season 1 lashing out against his one-time mentor (all the while using his money, cars, and penthouses).  It is not expected that Glenn will suit up in the Batman suit.  (But if he’s retired as Batman, why does he have a new Robin?)

There hasn’t been any indication that Thwaite’s Dick Grayson will become Nightwing this season, but it’s only a matter of time.

‘Titans’ Season 2 kicks off on Friday.  There were 11 episodes in the first season, and it is believed that the second will consist of 12.  They will be released one per week (on Friday) on DC Universe.  The first season was offered internationally by Netflix.

In Season 2, following the aftermath of their encounter with Trigon, Dick reforms the Titans. Under his supervision in their new home at Titans Tower, Rachel, Gar and Jason Todd train together to hone their hero abilities and work together as a team. They are joined by Hank Hall and Dawn Granger aka Hawk and Dove and Donna Troy aka Wonder Girl. Although these original Titans attempt to transition into a regular life, when old enemies resurface everyone must come together to take care of unfinished business. And as this family of old and new Titans – including Conner Kent and Rose Wilson – learn to co-exist, the arrival of Deathstroke brings to light the sins of the old Titans which threaten to tear this new Titans family apart once more.
