Denis Villeneuve’s reboot of ‘Dune‘ has officially started filming! If that news wasn’t enough to get fans excited, we now have learned that the movie should sound amazing as well due to audio icon Hans Zimmer (‘Gladiator’,’Inception’) officially being tapped to bring the score to life. This will be a reunion of sorts for Villeneuve and Zimmer as they’ve previously worked together on ‘Blade Runner 2049.’ The movie is slated to be shot in Budapest, Hungary, and Jordan.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment has assembled one of the most talented casts in Hollywood to bring about this new cinematic take on Frank Herbert’s iconic novel with Timothée Chalamet taking on the leading role in the movie of Paul Atreides. The screenplay was co-written by Villeneuve, Eric Roth, and Jon Spaihts.
The synopsis for this new take on ‘Dune’ can be found below!
A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
While only the first film has been publicly greenlit at this time, Villeneuve and Frank Herbert’s son have stated that this is being created as part of two movies to tell the entire story.
Joining Chalamet will be some of the greatest names in genre films including Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Stephen Henderson, Charlotte Rampling, and Jason Momoa! At this time both Javier Bardem and Chang Chen are also in talks to join the production.
