‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ is bringing back a character last seen in the very first ‘Jurassic Park’– Lewis Dodgson, the mysterious man in the red shirt and sunglasses that gave Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight) the Barbasol can that was secretly a container to be used to smuggle dinosaur embryos.  Unfortunately, neither Nedry nor his shaving cream canister made it off Isla Nublar.

Campbell Scott will portray Dodgson in ‘Dominion’.  Cameron Thor played the role in the original ‘Jurassic Park’.  Thor may have left acting behind.  His last credit was in the made-for-TV movie ‘Ring of Fire’– a biopic about Johnny and June Carter Cash– in 2013.

Scott has had a lengthy and varied career acting in television and films since the 1980s.  He first gained major notice for starring opposite Julia Roberts in the drama ‘Dying Young’ in 1991.  Other notable credits include ‘Singles’, ‘Hamlet’, ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose’, ‘Six Degrees’, ‘Damages’, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, ‘Royal Pains’, ‘Dietland’, and ‘House of Cards’.  He also frequently stars in various historical docudramas and biopics and has narrated a number of documentaries.

In ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’, Dodgson is the CEO of Biosyn Genetics, a rival company to InGen, the company created by John Hammond and was responsible for creating Jurassic Park and Jurassic World.  No more is known about his role in the film, but it’s likely that he could be the film’s antagonist.

Colin Trevorrow is directing ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’, which is expected to resume production in July following COVID-19 shutdowns.  Bryce Dallas Howard returns in the role of Claire Dearing, with Chris Pratt as Owen Grady, Jake Johnson as Lowery Cruthers, Daniella Pineda as Zia Rodriguez, Isabella Sermon as Maisie Lockwood, Justice Smith as Franklin Webb, and Omar Sy as Barry Sembene.  The film also welcomes back original ‘Jurassic Park’ franchise veterans Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), Sam Neill (Alan Grant), and BD Wong (Henry Wu).  It is also believed that Joseph Mazzello and Ariana Richards will return in the roles of Tim and Lex Hammond.  ‘Dominion’ will also feature newcomers Mamoudou Athie, Scott Haze, Dichen Lachman, and DeWanda Wise.

‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ is scheduled to stomp into theaters on June 11, 2021, but like all Hollywood projects, that is likely to change depending on how the COVID-19 situation plays out.  Check back for updates until then.
