James Gunn‘s upcoming DC comic book movie ‘The Suicide Squad’ continues to add to its cast as it moves closer to production, and this time it’s doubling down on Petes. Confirmed to have joined the cast is the Twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi. And said to be in final negotiations is ‘Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson. Neither of their roles are known at this time.
Capaldi is best known for starring on ‘Doctor Who’ for three seasons. He appeared on the big screen in the acclaimed family films ‘Paddington’ and ‘Paddington 2’. Lately, he has moved more into voice acting (‘Christopher Robin’, ‘Watership Down’) and directing.
Pete Davidson is a cast member of ‘Saturday Night Live’ and is basically famous for dating hot women– Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale, and most recently Margaret Qualley. Grande dissed him on her hit single “Thank You, Next.” (Hopefully, whoever he is playing in ‘The Suicide Squad’ will be “the Slipnot” of the group.)

It was recently reported that Taika Waititi and Nathan Fillion were also in talks to join in other undisclosed roles. German comedian Flula Borg was also recently added to the cast. The latest addition whose role is actually known is Steve Agee who will voice King Shark.
Idris Elba heads up the cast, although his role is also unknown, but it’s possible he is playing the martial artist Bronze Tiger. Whoever he is playing, Storm Reid will portray his daughter. Returning from the first ‘Suicide Squad’ are Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. They will be joined by David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, and Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher.
John Cena was reportedly in talks but his casting has not been confirmed. It’s possible that he will play The Peacemaker.
Gunn penned the screenplay for ‘The Suicide Squad’ himself. It was originally believed that this would be a complete reboot of the brand, after the lackluster performance of the first movie, but the fact that the majority of the original cast is returning makes this seem more like a straightforward sequel.
