Marvel Studios/Disney

Mark Ruffalo definitely isn’t feeling green with envy.  The Marvel Cinematic Universe is big enough for two emerald behemoths, especially considering that his version may be sidelined for good.  At Disney’s D23 Expo, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced a second wave of MCU TV series headed to Disney+ in the undisclosed future and among them was ‘She-Hulk’ centering on a character that, in the comics at least, is Bruce Banner’s cousin, Jennifer Walters.

Ruffalo took to Twitter with the message, “Welcome to the @MarvelStudios family, She-Hulk” followed by a green heart emoji, a celebratory horn, and a flexing bicep.

In the comics, Walters gained her abilities after her cousin was forced to give her an emergency blood transfusion after she was injured by some criminals, who sought her out due to her job as a crusading attorney.  So presumably, Ruffalo will be required to make an appearance on the ‘She-Hulk’ show in order to depict her origin.

Marvel

Literally, nothing was revealed about ‘She-Hulk’ beyond the fact that it was happening.  We don’t know who is writing or directing, and it will probably be some time before casting even begins.  Marvel Studios already has the next two years mapped out as far as what movies and TV shows will be arriving, and the first four shows focus on characters from the films– ‘WandaVision’ featuring Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany as The Vision, ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, ‘Loki’ starring Tom Hiddleston, and ‘Hawkeye’ featuring Jeremy Renner.

Feige announced ‘She-Hulk’ along with ‘Moon Knight’ and ‘Ms. Marvel’, presumably part of Phase 5, which begins in 2022.  As far as the films, we only know that ‘Black Panther II’ and ‘Blade’ are part of it.  Presumably, so is ‘Captain Marvel II’, but that hasn’t been announced yet.

At this point, Ruffalo’s Hulk is sidelined due to the injuries he suffered from wielding the power of all of the Infinity Stones.  His contract with Marvel may be complete, but he will surely turn up if only to pass the torch to She-Hulk, whoever she winds up being.  ‘Hawkeye’ is similarly being used to pass Clint Barton’s super identity to a new figure, Kate Bishop.

Are you looking forward to a ‘She-Hulk’ show on Disney+?
