Last year, scheduling conflicts forced Ron Cephas Jones to depart from his role as the Wizard in David F. Sandberg’s ‘Shazam!’.  Djimon Hounsou stepped in to replace him.  Now, Brian Tyree Henry has been forced to leave ‘A Quiet Place Part II’, also due to scheduling issues, and– you guessed it– Djimon Hounsou will take his place.  Henry, and now Hounsou will star opposite Emily Blunt, who is returning after starring as Evelyn Abbott in the first picture.  Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe also return as her children Reagan and Marcus, respectively.  Cillian Murphy is also part of the cast of the sequel.  John Krasinski, who made his feature film directing debut with ‘A Quiet Place’, is back to helm the sequel from a script he wrote.

This comes at a strange time, as production on ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ reportedly began back on June 20, although Krasinski posted a picture on July 19 indicating that filming was just beginning.

Perhaps Henry’s role was smaller than expected?

The July date makes this a little more logical.  If ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ had truly been filming for almost two months, logic would indicate that almost the whole things have been shot by now.

In the first, ‘A Quiet Place’, the Abbotts struggle to survive in a world that has been overrun by eye-less alien monsters who are drawn to sound and eat people.  One huge complication was that Evelyn was pregnant and gave birth during the film.  What does she do with a noisy baby in this reality?

Krasinski has said that he hoped the sequel will explore who was on the other end of those smoke signals in the first movie– the means that the survivors kept tabs on one another.  It is also rumored that the sequel will reveal a bit more about the monsters who simply existed with no explanation.  (It was revealed after the fact that they had come from outer space.)

In addition to ‘Shazam!’, Hounsou was seen earlier this year in ‘Captain Marvel’.  He appears this fall as one of the Bosleys in ‘Charlie’s Angels’, and next spring in ‘The King’s Man’, a prequel to the ‘Kingsman’ movies.  Henry was last seen in ‘Child’s Play’, and will appear in ‘Joker’, ‘Superintelligence’, and next year’s ‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’.

‘A Quiet Place Part II’ is scheduled to be released on March 20, 2020.
