In the third season of Marvel’s ‘Runaways,’ Elizabeth Hurley (‘The Royals’,’Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery’) will be joining the cast as the villainous Morgan le Fay and now the actress is weighing in on why she is thrilled to play her. Season 3 of the series is set to return on December 13th, 2019 for a 10-episode run and Morgan le Fay will be the antagonist for our young heroes.

The character was initially created by Stan Lee and Joe Maneely and is the half-sister of King Arthur. She is also a half-faerie but not quite the woman that fans of Arthurian legend would recognize. She is immortal due to her heritage and has a mastery of the mystic arts that could have her go toe-to-toe with Doctor Strange. In the comics, she once was a lover of Doctor Doom and has been a member of the Darkholders.

According to Hurley:

“I was so excited when they offered me this. You know, I’ve been a Marvel fan. I’ve played the Devil, so I’ve played bad before. Playing Morgan le Fay, she’s the most powerful enchantress of the Dark Dimension. It’s nice to go back to my evil side.”

As Hurley mentions she has played The Devil before, but I’m not sure how comparable the version she portrayed in the 2000 romcom ‘Bedazzled’ will be to this character.

This will actually be the second live-action performance of Morgan le Fay as Jessica Walter had played her in the 1978 made-for-TV movie ‘Doctor Strange.’ While Morgan hasn’t been a significant player in the comics since the “Dark Reign” story arc, she had a few minor appearances since that time.

In an action-packed Season 3, the Runaways frantically search for their captured friends Chase, Gert and Karolina. The kids go head to head with an unstoppable enemy who has targeted Leslie — or more accurately, the child she’s carrying. Nico draws them all into a dark realm where its ruler Morgan le Fay, played by Elizabeth Hurley, is much more nefarious than anyone the kids have yet to face.
