While the initial Phase 4 announcements have not included any word of the fan-favorite character of Nova, it sounds as if his introduction is still on the board.
At this point, only ‘Black Widow,’ ‘Eternals‘, ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’, ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ and ‘Thor: Love and Thunder‘ are officially confirmed. Most likely, none of these properties would be able to deal with the introduction of Nova. ‘Eternals’ and the fourth “Thor” movie would likely be the only two who have a true cosmic connection, and both of those don’t feel like the right place to lead into a Nova origin story from the limited details we have so far.
The news that he was still on the table did come from Kevin Feige who wasn’t too open about the character. When he was asked if there were plans for either Richard Rider or Sam Alexander to show up as Nova all Feige would say is that “We love Nova, it would be cool.”

However, when Feige was asked if his previous comments about as a “character with great potential” were still accurate, we received the response of “Yes, still true. That’s still true.”
Honestly, with Xandar being decimated by Thanos to get the Infinity Stone, it feels like there is an opportunity for an origin story to come. It feels like a sequel to ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ or ‘Captain Marvel’ would be a better fit for the appearance of Nova. How someone from Earth could end up with a Nova helmet would make for an interesting tale. However, the Nova Corps didn’t seem to be quite as powered up for things to work as they do in the comics when we were first introduced to them.
Are you looking forward to Nova eventually being introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? What movie do you think it could end up happening in? Which version of Nova do you hope we would end up getting? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
