Nova

Ever since Marvel went cosmic, a very vocal amount of ‘Nova’ fans have been asking for the character to grace the big screen, and now it seems like it will! The news came directly from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige who was being extremely candid at an ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ press event. While the movie itself hasn’t been greenlit, it sounds like with the Marvel Cinematic Universe going full steam ahead in the realm of cosmic possibilities (and one likely event in the upcoming blockbuster) it seems likely to happen.

We know that the Nova Corps are currently in possession of an Infinity Stone and with Thanos likely willing to level the planet to gain it, there is a possibility we could see one of the most significant introductions to Nova move forward. In the comics, Xander and most of the Nova Corps were ended and Richard Ryder ended up becoming the most potent Nova having all of the Hivemind that ran the Corps end up flowing through him.

It seems like these two events could end up happening in the film with what we know about ‘Avengers: Infinity War’s far. As to Feige’s comments?

“Nova is… If we have a big board with a bunch of characters that have more immediate potential, Nova is on that board. Because of the connection to the Guardians universe, because there are more than one examples to pull from in the comics that are interesting. And you’re absolutely right; he was in the earliest drafts of the [Guardians of the Galaxy].”

Nova is on the potential list and even in one instance would have already been introduced! As to how moving him or any new character forward currently looks for Marvel Studios?

“It varies. It’s the internal group of us at Marvel Studios and then, of course, conversations with Alan Horn, the chairman of the studio, and it varies. It varies in terms of characters who audiences like and want to see more of, which is how you get to Ragnarok, or characters that we know are great and have wonderful supporting characters and literal worlds that we can tap into like Panther and Wakanda. So, it always varies. Now, we’re at a point where there are a lot of both.”

While we aren’t being given the official word that it is happening, it sounds like they’re leading us in that direction.

Do you think that there is a chance that Nova could soon be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Would Xander being destroyed be the perfect way to be the ideal way to lay the groundwork for bringing us Richard Ryder? Which actor would you love to see become Nova in the MCU? Do you think we’d likely get Richard Ryder or the younger Nova that is hanging out with The Champions these days? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!
