‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’ has enlisted ‘Barry’ breakout Anthony Carrigan to play the picture’s villain. No further details have been revealed, but… he kind of looks like Death (William Sadler). Could Death have had a son, somehow?
At any rate, Sadler is confirmed to be returning in ‘Face the Music’, along with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. Brigette Lundy-Paine and Samara Weaving join as the duo’s daughters, Billie Logan, and Thea Preston, respectively. Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi) has also joined the cast, in an undisclosed role.
Now middle-aged, Bill (Winter) and Ted (Reeves), have yet to “fulfill their rock and roll destiny.” A stranger from the future visits them and tells them that only their song can “save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe.” In addition to their teenage daughters, expect “old friends, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends” to join in on their latest adventure.
Dean Parisot is directing, with a screenplay by the writers of ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure’ (1989) and ‘Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey’ (1991), Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. Also returning from the original films is producer Scott Kroopf.
In ‘Excellent Adventure’, Bill and Ted time traveled to encounter Napoleon, Billy the Kid, Socrates, Sigmund Freud, Genghis Khan, Joan of Arc, Abraham Lincoln, and Beethoven. In the second movie, they “Journey”-ed to Hell to face Death and Satan.
Anthony Carrigan has gained notice for playing “good-natured but deadly Chechen gangster” NoHo Hank on HBO’s acclaimed ‘Barry’, which has been renewed for a third season. He may also be recognized for playing Victor Zsasz on ‘Gotham’ or The Mist (Kyle Nimbus) on ‘The Flash’. Other credits include ‘Parenthood’ and ‘The Forgotten’. He was also recently cast in the upcoming Kevin Hart drama ‘Fatherhood’.
Audiences will get to face ‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’ on August 21, 2020.
