Hulu

Now that Disney owns Hulu, it looks like we can expect a lot more original content from the streaming platform to be put in development. At least, that is the news being shared by Hulu CEO Randy Freer. While he wouldn’t say how much Disney was investing in original content, Freer did share that we can expect more original shows to come!

The network has already had a working relationship with the development of Marvel’s ‘Runaways‘ and the streaming platform has had quite a few genre hits on their hands with shows like ‘The Handmaid’s Tale‘, ‘Castle Rock‘, ‘Future Man‘, ‘Into the Dark‘, and more already in development!

According to Freer:

“When you look at the capacity inside of the Walt Disney Company to create content, the IP that’s there, the access we’ll have with that is, you know, terrific. We are going to be able to invest more and invest more upstream and find the best stories and the best creators to make shows for the company.”

It wouldn’t surprise me to see more Disney and Fox properties that might not be family-friendly enough for Disney+ to show up on the streaming service. With that in mind, this would be an excellent place for a new ‘Alien’ show to land.

If a deal with Netflix were ever to be worked out, it would be a great home for the Marvel shows that were canceled to stream on Hulu. Having already greenlit ‘Ghost Rider’ and ‘Helstrom’ as well as four animated shows featuring Marvel heroes, it feels that more could be coming down the line.

The idea for new shows isn’t necessarily going to be from a massive influx of new money but from resources being focused on original creations.

Are you looking forward to Hulu changing focus to giving us more new content? Do you feel that any other of Disney’s significant properties could make an appearance on the streaming service? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
