In honor of Batman’s 80th Anniversary, Warner Brothers is offering its DC Universe streaming service to everyone in the US for FREE for one day only– from Midnight EST on Saturday, March 30, to 11:59 PM EST, to commemorate the release of ‘Detective Comics’ #27, Batman’s first appearance, published in 1939.  This is the second free promo from DC Universe that has been announced recently.  Currently, viewers in the US can access the first episodes of DC Universe’s original shows ‘Titans’, ‘Doom Patrol’, and ‘Young Justice: Outsiders’ without signing up for membership.  These first episodes are available until Friday, March 29, and can be accessed through DC Universe’s website or by downloading the app.  Those interested are not required to register or provide credit card information to enjoy the promo.

If viewers enjoy the free sample, they can sign up for a reduced rate.  From 12:01 AM EST on Friday, March 29, through 11:59 PM EST on Thursday, April 4, new subscribers will get their first month for only $0.80.  After that, the monthly membership reverts to its usual rate of $7.99, or for the reduced annual rate of $74.99 per year.

The first season of ‘Titans’ is available in its entirety, as is the first half of ‘Young Justice: Outsiders’ (or ‘Young Justice’ Season 3).  During the time of the one-day free trial, there will be seven episodes of ‘Doom Patrol’ available, out of a planned 15.  Other upcoming DC Universe originals are the live-action ‘Swamp Thing’ and ‘Stargirl’, and the adult animated series ‘Harley Quinn’.

But DC Universe also offers a deep back catalog of DC live-action TV shows and movies.  Here are the ones that feature the Dark Knight:

In addition, there is a large selection of digital comic books and graphic novels to read, exclusive merchandising and a community feature that allows fans to interact.  And of course, there are plenty of non-Batman related TV shows, movies and comics to choose from as well.

If you’d like to try out DC Universe without signing up for another streaming service, this is your opportunity.  If you are on the fence about the monthly subscription plan, keep in mine that $7.99 is roughly the cost of two new comics, so the price isn’t THAT steep.

Check out DC Universe for free next Saturday, March 30.
