There are two video game franchises hitting the big screen this year and while we’ve heard plenty from ‘Warcraft‘ we’re only now getting the first trailer for ‘Assassin’s Creed‘. 20th Century Fox is betting big on this one with Michael Fassbender (‘X-Men: First Class’,’Prometheus’) not only in the starring role but set to return for a sequel. Of course, being signed on for one and it actually happening will depend on box office sales than what the studio would like to see as has been proven by the most recent ‘Fantastic Four‘ movie.

Honestly, releasing it a week after ‘Rogue One:A Star Wars Story‘ hits the box office might hurt it even if the movie is absolutely outstanding.

The film is loosely set to follow the UBI game by the same name and we’ll see Fassbender as Callum Lynch who uses a new technology to unlock genetic memories. Through this, he is able to revisit the past and in particular Aguilar who was an assassin in 15th Century Spain. This unlocks both knowledge and abilities which he’ll need in modern times to take on the Templar organization in modern times.

You can check it out right here! With the soundtrack that they went with I would recommend hitting mute before the play button.

Finally, we’re seeing this released and I have to say it is looking a lot better than I had expected. However, while it looks great I’d have to say they should have gone with a different song as that one just did not fit with what we were seeing or the general theme of the movie. Also joining Fassbender on the big screen is Marion Cotillard, Michael K. Williams, Jeremy Irons, and Brendan Gleeson.
