So word on the street is that Drew Goddard (‘World War Z’,’Cloverfield’) has been tapped to help with the writing on ‘Deadpool 2‘. The rumor places Goddard more of a consultant to Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Now, before I get into this I am going to stress that this is firmly in rumorville as Ryan Reynolds himself seems to be saying that there isn’t a new writer.

He doesn’t outright say that Goddard isn’t involved as he could be around as a consultant, but this sounds like we shouldn’t put much faith in the following rumor.

Reese and Wernick have been busy at work since ‘Deadpool 2’ was officially announced, and said rumor has claimed that Goddard is working with Reynolds himself on it. Depending on where you might read this being reported from, various sources are claiming that either Goddard is around as a consultant to help on the story or that Reese and Wernick are no longer attached. While the second version of that was clearly debunked, the first might still be feasible.

I am a huge fan of Goddard’s work but have to say that the writing duo did such an outlandishly perfect job with the first ‘Deadpool’ that I can’t imagine anyone would want to mess with their dynamic. Also, unless there is something seriously wrong with the script it doesn’t seem as if they would need any help with how enthusiastically all of the parties involved have been talking about it.
