We won’t know how ‘Assassin’s Creed‘ will actually be when it hits the big screen in December but Ubisoft Pictures and New Regency feel that they have a hit on their hands and have attached Michael Fassbender (‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’,’Prometheus’) to return for a sequel. That’s right, it’s nowhere near the film’s release and we’re already hearing about plans for a follow up which is something that has been increasingly rare in new film properties these days and has me more interested in the film than I was before. Not just Fassbender, but the producers are also on board for continuing the story.

With the last two games having fielded mixed reviews and the franchise having been put on an indefinite hold by Ubisoft it makes you wonder if the next set of games will be following the movie if it is the success that the studio is expecting.

The ideas from the franchise could easily be brought back as we’ll see Fassbender being able to explore the lives of his ancestors which could have a sequel give us an entirely different time period to explore. Either that or it may further follow the adventures of the assassin that we’ll be introduced to in the first movie.

Even with all of that in mind, just because a sequel is being planned doesn’t mean that it will see the light of day if the movie is a flop. We all remember what happened to the recently rebooted ‘Fantastic Four‘ film as well as the slew of ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ spinoffs which have all been stalled aside from a potential ‘Venom‘ movie. If they don’t see returns at the box office it will be unlikely that ‘Assassin’s Creed 2’ will end up going into production.

Do you think that Michael Fassbender will give us an action filled film worthy of a sequel in ‘Assassin’s Creed’ or will it suffer a slow death at the box office? Share your thoughts below!
