Who cares about the horror flick ‘Hobo With A Shotgun’ because the latest batch of 10 stills from ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes‘ give us Caesar with a shotgun! There are actually quite a few good looks at both the humans and apes in the following photos but I’m going to be honest. The very last one is the best. I’m sorry. I had to list it last or you wouldn’t care about the other pictures. We’ll also get a few quotes from the director and actor who plays Caesar himself!
That’s right its Caesar with a shotgun! Who knew that apes could look so right with such a lethal weapon in hand? According to Director Matt Reeves (‘Cloverfield’,’Let Me In’), shotguns are going to be the least of our surprises in the film.
When talking about how it fit into the greater world of the franchise Reeves commented:
“We’ve got apes on horses. There is a sense in the beginning of the movie that apes have inherited the Earth. You see the species as it takes dominion over the planet. It’s an ape-world. That’s the fun of it.” However he did confess that “We all know it doesn’t become Planet of Humans and Apes; it becomes Planet of the Apes. But this is that one moment of time where there is hope for humans.”
With how much destruction that has happened to humanity we see that “the small group of humans are struggling to come back from devastation, and the apes are fighting for survival,” Reeves said. “The big question is, can they co-exist?” I wonder if the film will end with any hints at the remaining pockets of humanity we saw in the original films pre-reboot?
It isn’t all about the humans though as we hear from Andy Serkis (‘The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring’,’The Prestige’) who is playing Caesar talk about where he is in the film and that “Caesar not only has a wife, but also an infant son and a teenage son. This film centers around the notion of family — the survival of the family and what lengths you would go to to protect them when life is extremely hard and tough.”
‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ is slated to be released on July 11th, 2014.
