Scoop up a dish of fava beans, pour a glass of Chianti and sit back as you watch the first trailer for NBC’s new horror series ‘Hannibal’.

‘Hannibal’ is said to be a contemporary thriller based on the characters from the novel ‘Red Dragon and it explores the early days of the working relationship between Hannibal Lector and FBI agent Will Graham before things went sour between them.

The series was created by Bryan Fuller (‘Mockingbird Lane’, ‘Pushing Daisies’) who also wrote the scripts. Much like the series ‘Dracula’, ‘Hannibal’ bypassed the usual pilot process and NBC fast tracked it to a straight to series order.

The series boasts an impressive cast which include Mads Mikkelsen (‘The Three Musketeers’, ‘Clash of the Titans’, ‘Casino Royale’) as the infamous Hannibal the cannibal, Hugh Dancy (‘Ella Enchanted’, ‘Our Idiot Brother’) as Agent Will Graham and Laurence Fishburne as Agent Jack Crawford, the man who eventually is responsible for tracking down Lector.

Even more impressive are the guest appearances the show has lined up with include Eddie izzard (‘Mockingbird Lane’), Gillian Anderson (‘X-Files’), Gina Torres (‘Firefly’) and Lance Henriksen (‘Aliens’, ‘The Terminator’), Ellen Greene (‘Pushing Daisies’), Chelan Simmons (‘Dale and Tucker Must Die’).

While the good news is that the series will premiere on Thursday, April 4, the bad news is that it will air in the 10pm death spot once occupied by the now defunct series ‘Awake’ and ‘Do Not Harm’, the latter only lasting 2 episodes before being cancelled.

So in case the series finds itself in the same position as Fuller’s other creation, ‘Mockingbird Lane’, take a look at the trailer for ‘Hannibal’ and see if you think it will break its time slot curse and last for more than a few episodes.
