Disney+’s ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ has added two new cast members, Desmond Chiam and Miki Ishikawa. Their roles are unknown, and Disney declined to comment on their castings. They join Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, who are reprising their roles from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Sam Wilson and James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes. ‘Captain America: Civil War’s Emily VanCamp will also be back as Agent Sharon Carter, along with Daniel Brühl as bad guy Helmut Zemo. Wyatt Russell also joins the cast as John Walker, a fanatical character that replaced Steve Rogers as Captain America for a time, but who later adopted the guise of the U.S. Agent. Adepero Oduye will also appear in an undisclosed role.
‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ was developed by Malcolm Spellman, who acts as head writer. Kari Skogland will direct. There will be six episodes, and the show’s budget is reportedly $150 million.
Most recently, Desmond Chiam starred as Det. Wyatt Cole on ABC’s ‘Reef Break’. He previously starred as Jethro on Starz’s ‘Mow Apocalypse’, and as General Riga on ‘The Shannara Chronicles’. He has also appeared on ‘Hawaii Five-0’, ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’, and ‘Bones’, and will appear in Syfy’s upcoming series ‘We Were Tomorrow’, and the Disney+ movie ‘Magic Camp’.
Miki Ishikawa first appeared as Vicky on the Nickelodeon series ‘Zoey 101’. Most recently, she portrayed Amy Yoshida on AMC’s ‘The Terror’, and Cynthia Chen on the series ‘Hit’. Among her other credits are TV series ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’, ‘9-1-1’, ‘Yo Teach…!’, and ‘United States of Tara’, and the movies ‘Yours, Mine and Ours’ and ‘Funny People’.
‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ is expected to be released in late 2020. It will be the first of several Marvel-based Disney+ series, to be followed by ‘WandaVision’, ‘Loki’, the animated ‘What If…?’, ‘Hawkeye’, ‘Ms. Marvel’, ‘Moon Knight’, and ‘She-Hulk.
