Danai Gurira will soon depart AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead‘ and outside of a warrior and leader her role on the series has also expanded into being a mother. Many fans are likely wondering what could be happening to Rick Grimes’ children in Cailey Fleming’s Judith and Antony Azor’s RJ with Michonne gone, but now we’re starting to get an idea. The first major hint came from showrunner Angela Kang which had quite a surprising follow up on this last weekend’s ‘Talking Dead.’
First, Kang weighed in sharing that:
“Um, well, you know… The amazing thing about the apocalyptic community is it’s truly a village. There’s so many people who love Judith and RJ, Michonne loves them so much, these people on the couch love them so much, and so, there will be some story about what happens in that aftermath.”
One of those people who love the kids, at least Judith, is her bestie Negan played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Morgan was also on the couch for the series with Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride. While Daryl and “Look at the flowers” Carol were both quiet about the future of these children, Morgan made a reaction as to who could raise the Grimes children. He didn’t speak but did raise his hand and smile.

I’m not sure if this is who Rick would love to see taking care of his kiddos. However, in a previous interview, Morgan did share a tidbit that would have this scenario making sense:
“We know the pre-apocalypse life he had, he was a teacher, he worked with kids. I think he has a certain affinity towards kids anyway, and he really likes Judith. And I think seeing that side of him has done a lot for his reputation with fans, maybe they don’t want to kill me as much as they used to.”
I’m not sure if fans of Glenn and Abraham would agree with this response.
