Arrow: Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy, and Juliana Harkavy Working On Spinoff Pilot

With ‘Arrow’ coming to an end it should come as no surprise that The CW would be looking for a spinoff or two to take its place in the Arrowverse lineups. Now it’s official. Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy, and Juliana Harkavy are working to star in their own series as Green Arrow and the Canaries.

The new show is currently being put together by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros Television as a backdoor pilot. The plan is to air it during the eighth and final season of the current show, and if fans love the concept, The CW will likely pick it up. The episode is being penned by Beth Schwartz, Marc Guggenheim, Jill Blankenship, and Oscar Balderrama.

The idea for the series is to deliver “a next-generation version of Team Arrow with the costumed offspring of the original membership.” This will have Mia Smoak, who is the daughter of Oliver Queen as the center of this team. She was introduced last season in the episode “Star City 2040” and will clearly be playing a pivotal role in the final season.

We’ve known that a new show was in the works since August to join ‘The Flash,’ ‘Supergirl,’ ‘Legends of Tomorrow,’ and ‘Batwoman’ when Pedowitz had shared:

“The fact that seven years ago, we introduced Arrow, who would have thought it would have spawned six shows, a whole universe that they managed to create. It’s quite a remarkable feat. We believe these franchises, this universe will continue for many years, so it’s important to ensure that you have characters that will keep the fans coming back. How that universe plays out, time will tell.”
