Threepio

While what we really want to know is why C-3PO has red eyes in the ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker‘ trailer, Anthony Daniels isn’t talking about that quite yet. What he is sharing though is what his last day on set was like. Daniels sounds quite choked up about the process and not in a bad way much like how Tim Rose felt frustrated about his last day in costume as Admiral Ackbar. Hopefully, this means that Daniels no longer feels that his character has been “slightly sidelined in the franchise. Also, that he doesn’t dislike the red eyes as much as the red arm from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’

Of his final scene in ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ and quite possibly the franchise, Daniels shares:

“It was difficult not to tear up a bit. Partly because J.J. [Abrams] said some really nice things and all the crew were listening and watching. I have to admit it was an emotional moment, but I knew it was coming. It wasn’t even a scene in which I said anything. For once, Threepio was in a scene without butting in. But I felt it’s such a terrific movie that I thought it was okay to say goodbye. I feel satisfied with this one. I have something to be proud of that, you know, as I say goodbye.”

As “the story of a generation comes to an end” with ‘The Rise of Skywalker, it will be interesting to see where they left off with the lives of the original trilogy’s characters who are still alive. The way Daniels phrased that can easily make you wonder if C-3PO will be surviving to the end of The Skywalker Saga. We do know that some of the characters from the film will likely be returning in future films, but it isn’t clear if it will be classic characters or just the new ones which have been introduced since Disney took over.

You can watch the video of Daniels sharing his thoughts on the end of the upcoming “Star Wars” movie right here:

Now I’m curious as to if this ending will match what J.J. Abrams initially told Daisy Ridley about the film in a public cafe. I suspect that this is a piece of knowledge we may never know!

Are you expecting an emotional end when the final credits roll for ‘Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker’? Do you think that with the way Daniels phrased that last statement that C-3PO won’t be surviving the film? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
