We know that ‘Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker’ is going to be the end of The Skywalker Saga but that doesn’t make it clear as to what will end up happening to newer characters such as Rey, Poe, Finn, and BB-8. Rumors have been swirling that the upcoming films by Rian Johnson and the creative team behind ‘Game of Thrones’ David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are going to be working in another area of a galaxy far, far away and potentially in another time period as well which would make it harder to include these newer additions.
While more “A Star Wars Story” films could flesh out their characters in one-shots there is always a chance that another trilogy could also be in development showcasing them or that we could see Disney+ have them appear much how the studio is doing with Marvel Studios characters.

Either way, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy revealed:
“You know, there is an appropriate time. We’re using this appropriate time as an opportunity to see where we’re going now that we’re leaving the Skywalker Saga behind. But there’s no question that there’s certain characters that we’ve created certainly in the last three movies that we may very well wanna see down the line in the future.”
On the flip side, Poe and BB-8 have both been heavily featured in ‘Star Wars Resistance’ and the comics, and she wasn’t clear as to what medium we might see them in down the line.
