History's Project Blue Book Adds Jerod Haynes For Season 2

When History’s ‘Project Blue Book’ returns for its second season, the cast will be joined by Jerod Haynes as Daniel Banks, “a high-ranking, charismatic CIA operative.”  ‘Project Blue Book’ stars Aidan Gillen as astrophysicist Dr. J. Allen Hynek and Michael Malarkey as Air Force pilot Captain Michael Quinn, who become embroiled in UFO investigations of the 1950s.  The series is purported to be based on “true, top-secret investigations.”  The show also stars Laura Mennell, Ksenia Solo, Michael Harney, and Neal McDonough.

Hynek and Quinn will encounter Agent Banks at the top-secret Area 51.  He “becomes a powerful and unpredictable new asset for our duo’s quest for the truth in a UFO conspiracy that is growing increasingly dangerous.”

Haynes most recently starred on NBC’s ensemble drama ‘The Village’.  He was also seen in the HBO film ‘Native Son’, based on the Richard Wright play, in which Haynes also starred.  He also wrote and starred in the film ‘Blueprint’.  Among his other TV credits are ‘Chicago Med’, ‘Rounds’, ‘Sense8’, and ‘Empire’.

Last year, before the launch of ‘Project Blue Book’, showrunner Sean Jablonski explained:

“This is not a little green men show. This is more of a government conspiracy show with a great sci-fi twist — and also a character piece. Everything we see is and is not what it is. We’re not gonna take the position, certainly not early on, that little green men are running around and it’s just a question of finding them. The creature that you see in that tank is to them what they think it is, and yet it’s not.”

The series launched in January of this year and the second-season order was placed in February.  At that time, History’s Executive VP and Head of Programming, Eli Lehrer stated:

“We are believers in Project Blue Book, and so is our audience who has sparked a conversation about the hundreds of unsolved cases and our nation’s military response to UFOs that have remained relatively secret until now. Zemeckis, A+E Studios and our extraordinary creative team have shaped a compelling narrative that is the perfect blend of historical authenticity and entertainment that inspires curiosity in our viewers to learn more. We’ve touched on a very relevant topic and look forward to a second season.”

Though History hasn’t announced when ‘Project Blue Book’ will return, it would make sense if it debuted in January of 2020.
