Fans have been wanting to know what happens in the future of the “Star Trek” franchise and while ‘Star Trek: Picard‘ is taking us 20-years past the events of ‘Star Trek: Nemesis’ we know that the third season of ‘Star Trek: Discovery‘ is taking us even further. Now, Sonequa Martin-Green is opening up a bit as to what it feels like to take the franchise’s canon past what we know in ‘Star Trek: Voyager.’

While she shares that “It’s very innervating, to say the least, to be able to build canon moment-to-moment.” I’m just looking forward to seeing what Star Fleet might look like in the future, assuming that they’re still around. Of course, we know when they might even end up seeing the organization as:

“Well the beauty of going into the future boldly, pun intended, is that everything is new. So everything that you see will be new…We were able, blessed, to shoot in Iceland for the first episode of Season 3 and you are going to see a world that you’ve never seen before…we are not in Terralysium. We did not end there like we planned. So now we have to figure out where we are, when we are, and who we are at this point now.”

It sounds like the crew of the Discovery are going to have plenty of problems on their hands which could keep them from immediately being able to contact Star Fleet as survival could be their first order of business.

Are you looking forward to the third season of ‘Star Trek: Discovery’? How long do you think it will be before we find out how Star Fleet has advanced over the years? Will we see any of the other races that we’ve become accustomed to in the previous franchises or will there be new aliens that the crew of the Discovery ends up working with?
