Vanessa Kirby’s name has surfaced as someone who is in the running to play Catwoman. She is NOT playing Catwoman, and no talks have even taken place, but her name is reportedly floating around as someone that Warner Brothers and ‘The Batman’ director Matt Reeves are interested in meeting with to potentially play Catwoman, so there’s that.
If you are unfamiliar with Kirby, she co-starred as Lady Jemima Hervey on the British series ‘The Frankenstein Chronicles’ which starred Sean Bean, and as Princess Margaret on Netflix’s ‘The Crown’. On the big screen, she appeared as Alanna Mitsopolis a.k.a. The White Widow in ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’. She will also appear in the role of Hattie Shaw in the upcoming ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw’.

It is RUMORED that Catwoman is part of Reeves’ script for ‘The Batman’, although the main antagonist is said to be The Riddler. It is also reported that Firefly, The Mad Hatter, The Penguin, and Two-Face will appear, although not all of them will have large roles. But obviously, since this is a superhero movie, this is being eyed as a franchise-starter, so even if these villains don’t all have prominent roles in this movie, they could always return for bigger parts in future flicks.
Considering that Catwoman is one of the most famous and iconic characters in comics, a multitude of young female actors are throwing their names out for consideration for this role, so we’ll see who ultimately gets it.
Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt portrayed Catwoman on the 1960s ‘Batman’ TV series, while Lee Meriwether depicted her in the 1966 theatrical film based on the show. Michelle Pfeiffer portrayed her in ‘Batman Returns’, while Halle Berry (kind of) embodied her in the eponymous film ‘Catwoman’. Anne Hatheway played her in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. Camren Bicondova portrayed a teen Selina Kyle for most of the FOX series ‘Gotham’, while Lili Simmons stepped in for the final episode, when the show took a five-year time jump, necessitating an older performer.
