Krysten Ritter Always Felt The Third Season Of 'Jessica Jones' Would Be Its Last

With Netflix purging itself of Marvel shows, it quickly became clear to audiences that Season 3 of ‘Jessica Jones‘ would likely be the last, but star Krysten Ritter felt the show would be coming to an end even before the streaming service began doling out pink slips.

Once it was announced that showrunner Melissa Rosenberg was going to depart for Warner Bros. after the third season, Ritter knew that ‘Jessica Jones’ was coming to an end.

According to the actress:

“Well, I thought this would be the final season, before we started Season 3 because (showrunner) Mel [Rosenberg] would be moving on, and the show was so me and Mel. We are of the same the brain. So, going in knowing that was a gift because you can really craft it. We got to really make sure that we were closing out her storyline and completing her journey, in a way that felt very Jessica. I feel really fortunate to have this opportunity and to be able to tell this story. It’s three seasons, but it’s so much story because of the writing. It’s a psychological character study. We’ve covered a lot of ground.”

Joining ‘Daredevil,’ ‘Luke Cage,’ ‘Iron Fist,’ and ‘The Punisher,’ this is the last of the Marvel shows to be canceled by the streaming giant. However, at least Ritter felt that since the end was near she was able to incorporate that into her performance.

Sadly, due to contract restrictions, it is unlikely that we’ll see Ritter reprising her role as Jessica Jones in the future which is likely the case for the rest of the Marvel Netflix characters as well.
