Earlier this year, Keanu Reeves had the biggest flop of his career, with the sci-fi dud ‘Replicas’, but he rebounded in a big way with ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’, which made $57 million in its opening weekend, and replaced ‘Avengers: Endgame’ as the #1 movie in America.  But hopefully, there won’t be any hard feelings, as MCU Cosmic reports that Reeves is currently in talks with Marvel Studios to star in the upcoming flick ‘The Eternals’.  Of course, this is unsubstantiated, so take it with a grain of salt for now.

Fans have been lobbying for Reeves to join the MCU as Wolverine and there is even fan art of that floating around.  But Kevin Feige has stated that it will be five years before Marvel Studios is ready to announce plans for the X-Men in their universe.  Reeves is 54 NOW!  He’d be 59 by that time, and keep in mind, he’d be locked into a roughly ten-year contract, so he’d be “69 DUDE!” by the time he was done.  He’d be playing Old Man Logan, whether it was intentional or not.

Chloé Zhao is directing ‘The Eternals’, and reportedly, that cast includes Angeline Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, and Korean action star Ma Dong-seok will star.  Jolie is expected to play Sersi, but the other roles haven’t been revealed, although here is a list of characters from the comics that are believed to be included in the script.

The male lead is only known to be a Greek god, the most prominent of which, in Marvel Comics, is Hercules.  Reeves wouldn’t be *my* choice for that role, but he might be okay.  But the appeal of Hercules is that he is essentially “drunk Thor,” and more gregarious than the Norse God of Thunder.  However, in the movies, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is already kind of “drunk Thor,” and in the last few years, has become more gregarious.  There will need to be an effort made to differentiate them, IF he appears in ‘Eternals’ or any other MCU flick.

Another possibility is Ares, who was intended to make a cameo in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ which was scrapped.

Then again, the Eternals existed at the same time as the Greek and Roman gods and heroes and were often mistaken for them– Sersi/Circe, Ikaris/Icarus, Makkari/Mercury, etc.

Then again, it’s possible that Reeves won’t be in ‘The Eternals’ at all.

What do you think?  Would you like to see Keanu Reaves in a Marvel movie?  If so, as whom?
