The Russo Brothers Explain That Loki Moment In 'Avengers: Endgame'

By now we all know that Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki ended up dying in ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ and thanks to time travel we were able to have another moment with the character in ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ It was really amusing and a scene that opened up a realm of possibilities for Loki even though he is still dead in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to Thanos. The Russo Brothers did open up a bit about this scene and what they had to share is an interesting read.

We’ll be talking a few spoilers here as to what the scene means so if you somehow haven’t seen ‘Avengers: Endgame’ yet now is the time to turn back!

Now, in the movie, we had a chance to see Loki transport himself elsewhere with the Space Stone, which is why the entire secondary adventure for Captain and Iron Man into the past had to occur. However, what does that difference in the timeline for Loki mean?

According to Joe Russo:

“Loki, when he teleports away with the [Space] Stone, would create his own timeline. It gets very complicated, but it would be impossible for [Cap] to rectify the timeline unless he found Loki. The minute that Loki does something as dramatic as take the Space Stone, he creates a branched reality.”

His brother and co-director Anthony Russo went on to say that:

“We’re dealing with this idea of multiverses and branched realities, so there are many realities.”

Chances are, this is going to be the Loki that the upcoming Disney+ series is going to focus on. While this will give us another outing with Loki, fans can only hope that this one will somehow find a way to survive and get transported into the proper MCU so we can see him appear once more even if he won’t have found redemption as our own did unless he somehow earns it while on his own adventures.

Did you think that an alternate Loki is what the Disney+ series could have been about? Do you feel that there is any way for the show to bring Hiddleston’s character back to the prime Marvel Cinematic Universe? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
