There Is Only One Thing Marvel Studios Required Be In 'Avengers: Infinity War' And 'Ave

We’ve long heard that Marvel Studios gives a lot of creative freedom to the writers that craft the Marvel Cinematic Universe and both Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are confirming that. The two have crafted many of the greatest hits from the Marvel Cinematic Universe including ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, ‘Captain America: Civil War‘, ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘, ‘Avengers: Endgame‘, and the poorly received ‘Thor: The Dark World’ so they know what they’re talking about. In fact, the two say that Marvel Studios gave them only one requirement when it came to the last two films.

According to Markus:

“[Disney] basically said, ‘We want to bring the [Marvel Cinematic Universe] to the close of a definitive chapter. We want to do two movies [that are] very different in tone, you can draw from anything, [but] Thanos [has to be] in it.’ “

Bringing The Mad Titan to life in all his glory was the main thing that Disney and Marvel wanted. Saying that Markus and McFeely were able to deliver Thanos in a truly captivating way is an understatement of massive proportion. Ever since he was teased as the Big Bad at the tail end of 2012’s ‘The Avengers’ we knew that he would have a major role to play and wiping out half the life in the universe in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ seemed to fulfill that tease.

Are you surprised that Disney and Marvel Studios gives their writers so much creative freedom? Is there anything else from the movie that you think they would have required to be in it? Do you feel that the MCU treated Thanos in a way that was fitting for their take on the character which also honored the original comic book version?
