FX Releases A New Trailer And Poster For 'Legion' Season 3

FX’s ‘Legion’ has always been akin to an acid trip, and the series is diving headlong into psychedelia in its third and final season.  At the end of Season 2, David Haller (Dan Stevens) made a shocking revelation, exposing his dark side, which will carry over into the new episodes.  In the new trailer, he is shown in the very ’60s role as a cult leader (“I help people open their minds…  I’m the magic man,” he announces), while Lenny (Aubrey Plaza) embodies the Mad Hatter, from ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’, a work that is often connected to hallucinogenic drug culture.  The new trailer also indicates that ‘Legion’ will drift closer to its ‘X-Men’ comic book roots, as newcomer Harry Lloyd (‘Game of Thrones’) appears as David’s father, Professor Charles Xavier, and he’s brought Cerebro with him.

But as if the mind-bending tone of ‘Legion’ weren’t trippy enough, Season 3 introduces the element of time travel, courtesy of Lauren Tsai, as the mutant Switch.  David needs her help to prevent his death… which has already occurred.  Once again, it’s trippy.

As indicated by the trailer, Season 3 arrives on June 24.

In addition to the new trailer, FX has released a psychedelic 60s-esque poster for Season 3:

‘Legion’ also stars Jeremie Harris, Bill Irwin, Rachel Keller, Amber Midthunder, and Navid Negahban.

David Haller is a troubled young man who was diagnosed with schizophrenia as a child. Shuffled from one psychiatric institution to the next, in his early 30s, David met and fell in love with a beautiful and troubled fellow patient named Syd. After a startling encounter with her, he was forced to confront the shocking possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees may actually be real. Syd led David to Melanie Bird, a demanding but nurturing therapist who heads a team of specialists — Ptonomy, Kerry, and Cary — each of whom possesses a unique and extraordinary gift. Together, they helped David to recognize and harness his hidden abilities and unlock a deeply suppressed truth — he had been haunted his entire life by a malicious parasite of unimaginable power.

‘Legion’ Season 3 will return to FX on Monday, June 24, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
