Legion

After nearly two years we’re finally seeing Dan Stevens portraying David Haller with an accurate comic book look in ‘Legion,’ and I couldn’t be more thrilled! FX has had a unique way to introduce the world to the character which has given a sophisticated and well-developed hero as well as a deep dive into the world of mental health. Funny and smart, the series has done well at straying from its comic roots and is now borrowing a look that will ground it in the best run of the character to have been written to date.

While Legion was created by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, it is actually Simon Spurrier‘s run in ‘X-Men: Legacy’ that many define as his shining moments on page, myself included. So with the show now giving him the look which Tan Eng Huat visually brought to life, I think it is safe to say that there is a reason for excitement here.

You can check out the look below!

There are no hints that this means we’ll be getting an adaptation of the ‘X-Men: Legacy’ run which saw Haller dealing with the death of his father Professor Charles Xavier and what his legacy meant to both himself and the world, but it should hopefully mean that we’re in for a good time.

For an example of how the above image compared to the comic, you can see a pretty clear cut resemblance right here:

As a bonus, this was also the first time that someone in the show itself referred to Haller by his comic name of Legion. Another aspect from his Marvel history was introduced in the episode which hinted that his powers could grow unchecked and actually bring about the end of the world. This might be the first time that the plot point has been used on the series, but it has been previously used in the comics.

Are you excited that ‘Legion’ is finally starting to embrace David Haller’s look from the comics? Is this your preferred outfit for Xavier’s son or do you wish they had gone with another style? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!
