It was previously reported that Jon Favreau‘s ‘The Mandalorian’ which will be one of the first original series offered by Disney+, was expected to carry on for more than one season. Now comes word that, yes, indeed ‘The Mandalorian’ has been renewed for a second season, and Favreau will be back. Favreau created the series and serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer. The first season will consist of eight episodes.

Also executive producing are Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson with Karen Gilchrist. Filoni directed the first episode, with Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, and Deborah Chow directing additional episodes. Filoni is expected to be involved with the second season, but right now, it’s unknown in what capacity. Filming is expected to remain in the Los Angeles area.
Pedro Pascal stars in the lead of ‘The Mandalorian’, with Gina Carano as Cara Dune, an “ex-Rebel shock trooper,” and Carl Weathers as Greef Karga, “the head of this guild of bounty hunters.” The first season also features cast members Omid Abtahi, Giancarlo Esposito, Werner Herzog, Nick Nolte, and Emily Swallow.
Episodes will be released one-per-week, just like regular TV, so unfortunately, fans won’t be able to binge it upon its release. But with just eight episodes, maybe it’s best to enjoy them slowly.
