Who’s your daddy, Star Lord?  That’s been the question lingering on fans minds since ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ took everyone by surprise in 2014 becoming a massive break-out hit.  That question should be answered in the upcoming sequel ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ which is currently filming in the Atlanta area.  But fans thought they may have gotten an early hint as to who would, at least, be PLAYING Star Lord’s father, when Kurt Russell became attached to the project.

Now comes a rumor that a fellow action movie legend and recent Golden Globe winner Sylvester Stallone (for ‘Creed’) may also be appearing in the James Gunn-directed sequel.  This doesn’t come from any insider information but merely speculation based on a few observations, so take this with a GRAIN OF SALT until more info emerges.

But Stallone has been photographed in the same area of Atlanta where ‘Guardians 2’ is filming and he has been seen carrying what appears to be a script, getting into a car that is “usually assigned to Chris Pratt.”

Unfortunately, that’s all we have to go on.  IF Stallone is working on ‘Guardians 2’, it would seem he is appearing in person and isn’t simply supplying a voice, like Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper, who are reprising their roles as Groot and Rocket, respectively.

With a full universe of space-faring Marvel characters to pull from, there’s no telling who he could be playing.  There never came an official confirmation that Russell said yes to the film, just that he was interested.  If he passed, it’s conceivable that Stallone will take over the role he was considering.  And, as many have hypothesized, that role could very well be that of Star Lord’s father.

Now who this father is, will likely remain a mystery until the actual film premieres as Gunn has flatly stated that he is eschewing Star Lord’s comic book origin for something original.  But even so, fans were so enamored of the first film’s off-beat humor and storytelling that it’s very likely that they will embrace any changes Gunn makes to the comic book mythos.

What do you think?  Would you like to see Stallone in ‘Guardians 2’?

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2′ starring Chris Pratt, Zoë Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Kurt Russell, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, and Glenn Close takes off on May 5, 2017.
