‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ director Jon Watts is set to sign on to direct ‘Methuselah’ starring Michael B. Jordan, about a 400-year-old man, in an adventure story that is said to be reminiscent of ‘Highlander’ and is being eyed as a potential franchise. The project had previously been envisioned as a vehicle for Tom Cruise, then later Will Smith. Jordan serves as executive producer as well as star.

Regarding the lead character, over the 400 years of his existence, “he has accumulated vast intellectual knowledge, from multiple languages to the sciences, as well as survival skills.”
The most recent draft was penned by Tony Gilroy (‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, the ‘Bourne’ series), but it is said that a new writer is being sought to overhaul the screenplay.
Watts helmed both ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and its upcoming sequel ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’. Before that, he directed the acclaimed thriller ‘Cop Car’.
Last year, Jordan was seen in ‘Black Panther’, ‘Creed II’, and ‘Kin’. His voice can currently be heard on the Rooster Teeth animated series ‘Gen: Lock’. He was nominated for an Emmy Award and won an NAACP Image Award for his role in the HBO original ‘Fahrenheit 451’, which he also produced, with his company Outlier Society.
