Following the release of two extended trailers for ‘The Twilight Zone’, CBS All Access has released six new photos– two each from the first three episodes– as well as two posters. The update of the classic 1960s series created by Rod Serling was developed by Jordan Peele, who will serve as host and narrator of the new version.
It appears there has been some shuffling of the episodes’ order, as ‘Nightmare at 30,000 Feet’ has been moved to the #1 spot, to be followed by ‘The Comedian’. Both episodes will be released on April 1, with ‘Rewind’, which was the first episode, will now be third, and will be released on April 11.
‘Nightmare at 30,000 Feet’ is a retelling of the classic episode ‘Nightmare at 20,000 Feet’ which starred William Shatner as a panicked passenger onboard an airplane, who spies a Gremlin tearing up the wing. But no one else can see the creature.
Adam Scott stars in the updated version, and instead of a supernatural Gremlin, it seems his character is terrified of Muslim passengers. Peele’s breakthrough film, ‘Get Out’ addressed racism with a dose of science fiction and horror, and it looks as though he will continue to explore real-world topics, via ‘The Twilight Zone’. Greg Yaitanes, who serves as an unofficial showrunner on this series, directed this episode, which also stars Chris Diamantopoulos.

The second episode, ‘The Comedian’ stars Kumail Nanjiani and Tracy Morgan. Nanjiani portrays Samir Wassan, a struggling standup comedian, who makes a deal with Morgan’s Devil (?) for success, but as these types of deals have a tendency to do, things go very poorly for him. Amara Karan also appears as Rena Pradhan, Samir’s girlfriend.

The third episode, ‘Rewind’ stars Sanaa Lathan and Damson Idris as Nina and Dorian Harrison. ‘Rewind’ was the name of an episode from the 2002 reboot of ‘The Twilight Zone’ that aired on the UPN. That episode followed a compulsive gambler and eternal loser who thinks he discovers the secret to beating the house. Though it isn’t confirmed, it’s likely that the new episode will be in some way based on the previous one.
