Adam Scott will star in an episode of ‘The Twilight Zone’, the new sci-fi/horror anthology series coming to CBS All Access.  He will headline the episode ‘Nightmare at 30,000 Feet,’ a possible updating of the most famous episode of the classic original series, entitled “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.”  That was the immortal episode in which William Shatner starred as an airplane passenger who spies what he thinks is a “gremlin” on the wing of his commercial air flight.  This story was previously adapted as a segment in 1983’s ‘Twilight Zone: The Movie’, directed by George Miller, with John Lithgow playing the Shatner role, and has been referenced numerous times in pop culture.  Shatner and Lithgow even made a winking reference to their shared role, when the former guest-starred on the latter’s hit series ‘3rd Rock From the Sun’.

Here is a short clip from the original TV version:

Of course, the title may simply be an homage to the original episodes.  It is unknown, as plot details haven’t been revealed.  Scott is the second star whose casting in ‘Twilight Zone’ has been revealed.  Sanaa Lathan was previously announced as headlining the episode ‘Rewind’.

Scott has recently appeared on a number of series, headlining the FOX supernatural sitcom ‘Ghosted’ which has since been cancelled, as well as NBC’s after world comedy ‘The Good Place’ but he may still be best known for his five-year stint on NBC’s ‘Parks and Recreation’.  He has dabbled in sci-fi/horror, usually with a comedic twist, in ‘Hot Tub Time Machine 2’, ‘Krampus’ and ‘Little Evil’.  He can also be seen in the HBO series ‘Big Little Lies’.

‘The Twilight Zone’ comes from Jordan Peele and his Monkeypaw Productions, along with CBS TV Studios and Simon Kinberg‘s Genre Films.  Peele will also appear as the host on the new series, which is expected sometime in 2019 on CBS All Access.
