Fans of The CW’s Arrowverse were stunned last week when Stephen Amell announced that ‘Arrow’ would end this fall after a truncated eighth season. Most of the cast have already taken to social media to thank fans. Now Grant Gustin, star of companion series ‘The Flash’ has posted a heartfelt tribute to ‘Arrow’ and its star, Amell on Instagram.
Gustin posted the cover of ‘TV Guide’ which featured Amell and Gustin, touting the first team-up between the two shows. LOL, if only they knew how modest this event would be compared to those that followed!
As Gustin wrote in part:
“We don’t get to see a lot of each other, because we both work very similar schedules, on different shows, for 9 1/2 months out of the year. But when we’re brought together for those grueling crossover episodes, it always results in something pretty special. And not JUST a special kind of hell. It’s just absolutely bananas to stand around with that many people in super suits, and get paid to play make believe on tv.”
On a more personal note, Gustin wrote:
“Not just that, but Stephen has always brought a different kind of passion to his show and the whole Arrowverse. It’s always been clear to me how much it means to Stephen to have the privilege of getting to go on this journey as Oliver Queen. And how much care he’s always put towards it… Congratulations on a badass show that will live on forever… Stephen, you’re a legend. Maybe this means we can hang out more?”

Amell revealed last week that after a lot of soul-searching, he had decided not to renew his contract when it ends, in order to spend more time with his young family. Rather than carry on without the show’s lead, producers opted to end ‘Arrow’.
There had already been rumors swirling that big shakeups were coming with this winter’s ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ crossover, including that ‘Arrow’ would be canceled. (The same was buzzed about ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, but so far, no announcements have been made about its fate.)
Keep checking back for more information about the Arrowverse (are we still calling it that?) as it is revealed.
