A New Shot Of Jordan Peele's Upcoming 'Us' Delivers Monsters

We had already heard that Jordan Peele‘s upcoming film ‘Us‘ was going to be another horror film and now we’re learning a bit more about his first film to be released after the smash hit of ‘Get Out.’ What we know about the story so far is that Lupita Nyong’o’s Adelaide and Winston Duke’s Gabe Wilson have decided it would be a good idea to take their kids on a road trip to visit beachside home in Northern California for the summer where Adelaide grew up at.

Sounds tame so far, but after a single day on the beach with the Tyler family, things start to go wrong. Adelaide is haunted by trauma from her childhood, and she begins to become paranoid that something will happen to her family. When night falls, we see the Wilson family witness four figures shrouded in darkness at the bottom of their driveway holding hands which can be seen in this image:

Nothing is revealed about these monsters yet outside of their name which has them called “The Tethered.”

While Peele doesn’t give us much to go on for ‘Us,’ the director did share that:

“For my second feature, I wanted to create a monster mythology. I wanted to do something that was more firmly in the horror genre but still held on to my love of movies that are twisted but fun.”

It seems that Peele didn’t have to work to have the Oscar winner Nyong’o join his cast as she stated that “He was on my wish list of people to work with. The very fact that I have not done anything like it was appealing, because it promised growth and excitement and new territory.”

The actress hints at more details for the film sharing that this vacation “turns into this relentless nightmare that taps into [Adelaide’s] deepest fears and ours as well — the idea that we might be our own worst enemies.”

The ‘Black Panther’ star Winston Duke also shares that his character is “very sporadic and impulsive, he’s the husband and the alpha, and I think that leads to some of the conflict that is in the marriage when we meet the Wilsons.”

It sounds like we might not be getting quite the same kind of social commentary that made ‘Get Out’ a smash hit but the image above promises that we should be in for a creepy time!
