Though she has existed as a supporting character in the comics for years, Shuri (played by Letitia Wright) has emerged as a superstar this year, thanks to scene-stealing roles in ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ On the upcoming Disney XD series ‘Avengers: Black Panther’s Quest’, which is the rebranded name of ‘Avengers Assemble,’ her voice will be provided by Daisy Lightfoot. As you can tell from the subtitle, the action this year shifts to Wakanda and T’Challa, voiced by James Mathis III, takes center stage.
The excitement kicks off this Saturday and Disney XD helped set the stage by sharing this latest TV spot:
T’Challa & Shuri don’t fight like brother & sister, they fight like the Black Panther! 💥💻 @Marvel‘s Avengers: Black Panther’s Quest releases next Sunday, 9/23 at 9pm!#BlackPanther #Marvel #DisneyXD pic.twitter.com/QODh6yIDgi

As the mysterious Shadow Council rises to challenge Wakanda, T’Challa teams up with his sister Shuri to go on missions that no other Avenger can. It’s a globe-trotting journey of espionage and mystery as old foes resurface and new friends are made. In the end, Black Panther must balance defending his home and stopping threats before they start. Is he a sword or a shield? Only he can decide.
As you can tell from the clip, expect the same playful sibling rivalry established in the films. Black Panther may be a king among superheroes, but to Shuri, he’s just her dorky older brother.
And though they died in the movie, Killmonger and Klaue will be the main villains of the upcoming season, voiced by Keston John and Trevor Paul, respectively. Also part of this Shadow Council, is M’Baku, another favorite from the films, although in those he is an ally to T’Challa and the heroes. (No word on his voice actor yet.) The rest of the Shadow Council includes Zemo (David Kaye), Madame Masque (Wynn Everett), and Tiger Shark (Matt Mercer).
Joining T’Challa against this band of criminals are Black Widow (Laura Bailey), Captain America (Roger Craig Smith), Iron Man (Mick Wingert), Ms. Marvel (Kathreen Khavari) and Thor (Travis Willigham). The group will also get a helping hand from Bucky Barnes/White Wolf, voiced by Scott Porter.
Mark Hamill and Stan Lee have also recorded parts for the new season.
The action kicks off when ‘Avengers: Black Panther’s Quest’ premiers this Sunday night, September 23, at 9:00 pm EST.
