Marina Sirtis

Seth MacFarlane, creator of ‘The Orville,’ and huge fan of ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ is about the bring the two universes together! A former star from ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ will appear in an episode of ‘The Orville’ for the second season of the series.

Fans of the show will remember that Jonathan Frakes from ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation,’ and who directed several episodes of ‘Star Trek’ television and two movies, will lead an episode in Season 2. Now, we know that Marina Sirtis, who played Counselor Deanna Troi on ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation,’ will join in the fun! Sirtis recently shared a photo of herself on Twitter with Frakes and MacFarlane asking, “Where am I?”

Frakes wiped out any doubt that this meant Sirtis would be appearing on the show by responding with:

“Cat’s out of the bag now…”

Sirtis will serve as the first cast member from ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ to appear on ‘The Orville.’  However, other stars from the ‘Trek’ franchise have paid a visit to the show. Excluding Penny Johnson Jerald from ‘Deep Space Nine’ who is a regular on ‘The Orville,’ ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ star Robert Picardo plays a role that will return for season 2 and his Star ‘Trek: Voyager’ co-star, Tim Russ, will also appear in the series.

John Billingsley of ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’ fame is also set to appear in the second season of ‘The Orville.’ This brings everything full circle for MacFarlane, who also appeared in ‘Star Trek: Enterprise.’

‘The Orville’ recently won the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Television Series. The show beat out heavy hitters including, ‘The 100,’ ‘Colony,’ ‘Doctor Who,’ ‘The Expanse,’ ‘Salvation,’ and ‘The X-Files.’

‘The Orville’ makes a return to TV on Sunday, December 30th following a Sunday Night Football double-header. The series will then return to its normal Thursday slot after the NFL season comes to an end.
