Rick Moranis made shrinking on the big screen hilariously cool with ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’ and ‘Ant-Man‘ director wanted the actor to star in the first film. In fact, Peyton Reed tried to get the star to make a cameo but it was before the actor’s return to film and things just didn’t work out. With the brand of humor that Reed has been using in his films, a Moranis cameo would have been fitting and not too over-the-top. Sadly, it didn’t happen in the first outing or in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp.’
Here is what Reed had to say on his attempt:
“We actually, at one point, attempted to get a Rick Moranis cameo in the first movie – still during the period, I think, where he wasn’t doing so much acting. I think he’s now gonna be on the CTV Scorsese-directed thing, which I’m super psyched about. But always, still, an unchecked box for me.”
There is always a chance that Reed will be back for a third ‘Ant-Man’ movie and Moranis hasn’t been too vocal on his thoughts of the comic book movie craze. If he doesn’t suffer from that dreaded superhero fatigue, we keep hearing about then this might just be the film for the actor to make a cameo in. There are so many scientists and scientific villains that I think he could play perfectly if given the opportunity, but even as a background character I’m sure that Moranis would steal any scene that he was in.
Would you love to see Rick Moranis make an appearance in a third ‘Ant-Man’ movie? Do you think he’d be great as a background character or can you think of an ongoing role that would be a perfect fit for this actor in any area of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
