Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth has spent the last seven years playing the God of Thunder, and now that his contract is up, he plans to “surf for the rest of my life.” He was kidding as he said this but unless he works out a deal with Marvel Studios, it sounds like the actor might take some time off of acting and spend it with his family.

According to Hemsworth:

“I want to be able to take the kids to school. I may even be off all year. Maybe, it’s time to just cash in and check out and surf for the rest of my life.”

While it is unclear if Thor survives the events of ‘Avengers 4’ at this time, we do know that the actor would be up for reprising his role in the future all because of ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’ Hemsworth was feeling a bit burned out playing the God of Thunder before going in, but after ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ finished filming, Hemsworth felt that the movie re-invented the character. Hemsworth felt at a bit of a loss once it was over thinking, “we will never have this much fun again” as he finally “had a voice in the process and was having the most fun” he’s had on a film set. Being able to contribute to what happens to his character really changed his perspective on working on these films.

So, if his character survives and Marvel is up to paying for him to return, there is a good chance we could see the God of Thunder once more.

For now, though, there will be more family time as his career was growing at the same time that his family was:

“It all happened at once and I’ve thought about it and gone, ‘God, am I trying to do too much at once?’ There’s no regret by any means. It just comes out of wanting to be [at home] more.”

Anyone who has children can totally understand the vastly different view of juggling professional and personal lives once they’re around:

“I want to be there more. My wife and I were talking the other day about how the years are flying by: our daughter [India Rose] is five and a half and the boys [twins called Tristan and Sasha] are three and a half. And however much time you do have together, it never seems like enough. It’s always exhausting, even when we have help with grandparents or a nanny.”

So true, and also so great that he has the ability to be able to take that break and spend more time with his family.

Would you be happy to see Hemsworth return as ‘Thor’? Do you think his return would work better in another ‘Avengers’ film or a solo outing if it were anything like ‘Thor Ragnarok’? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
