Black PantherThe full introduction to Wakanda in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will kick off on February 16th, 2018 when ‘Black Panther is released. In order to prepare for the film, Marvel Comics is about to release a free comic sampler titled ‘Black Panther – Start Here’! The book is scheduled to drop on January 31st, 2017 which will give you a couple of weeks to read it over and get familiar with the comic version of the character. The book is planning to have excerpts from some of the more recent titles and classics such as work by writer Ta-Nehisi Coates’ ‘Black Panther’, ‘World of Wakanda’ and ‘Black Panther and the Crew’

The sampler will be free and include a slew of details of T’Challa’s 50-year history in print. Coates’ run is the most recent on ‘Black Panther’ and has received wide praise from critics. The other two are recent spinoffs also penned by Coates with ‘Black Panther’ and the crew returning to the United States and meeting up with old friends who are battling police violence and racism. Finally, ‘World of Wakanda,’ penned by Roxane Gay and Yona Harvey, shines a spotlight on the many supporting female cast members in the books who will also be heavily involved in the film.

Another fun inclusion will be the run by Reginald Hudlin and John Romita Jr. which was released in the mid-2000s and has become a staple in character development for T’Challa.

The knowledge you can glean from this book will help you be intimately involved with Black Panther when Chadwick Boseman returns to the role on the big screen in February, especially if you haven’t followed the comics in the past.
