Toy News Tuesday: A Pennywise Is A Penny Earned

Hello Boils and Ghouls, and welcome back yet again to an all-new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you!

Halloween is this week and there are lots of great new spooky surprises in store from many of our favorite companies like Diamond Select Toys, NECA, Super7 and more! What are you all planning to dress up as to celebrate the holiday while out toy hunting? In the meantime be sure to scroll on down to the Toy News for the week of October 29th, 2019!

Twice The Turtles At Target

If you missed the first wave of NECA’s Target exclusive ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ classic animated figure line earlier this year, you’re in luck! The second wave of figures is heading to Target stores now and is jam-packed with your favorite Turtles and so much more!

This new wave includes re-painted rereleases of all four Turtles, as well as an army builder 2-pack of Foot Soldiers! The Turtles will be available as two sets of two, so if you picked them up in series one you can easily skip them this time around. This should be making army building a lot easier than it was with the last wave. There will also be a fourth figure 2-pack available featuring the mutants Beebop and Rocksteady, which are a pair of “must haves” for most TMNT fans. These should be hitting Target stores now!

Sci-Fi Nostalgia At Its Finest

Okay, so we aren’t even going to pretend that we aren’t insanely excited for these, so we are just going to openly gush about just how cool we think NECA’S latest toyline is! First shown back at Toy Fair in February, this week NECA released new in-package images of their new 5.5″ scale ‘Alien and Predator Classics’ figures!

This all new toyline takes NECA’s usual approach at bringing us modern styled takes on classic Kenner figure designs and turns it completely on its head by bringing us classic Kenner figure styled takes on modern characters! To explain it in simpler terms? Just imagine if the classic Kenner ‘ALIENS’ and ‘Predator’ toylines never actually ended and that Kenner was still making figures in that same style for all of the more recent ‘Alien’ and ‘Predator’ films!

The first (and currently only confirmed) wave of figures includes one character from each franchise, with the Neomorph from ‘Alien: Covenant’ and the Beserker Predator from ‘Predators’! These figures are expected to hit the market this holiday season with an anticipated retail price of around $14.99 each. Here’s hoping they keep the line going and we see more modern characters in this classic style!

NECA Floats Out New Pennywise

Just in case you didn’t already have enough awesome collectibles of Pennywise from Stephen King’s ‘It’, the crew at NECA has just announced yet another one you won’t want to miss! This week NECA unveiled their all-new Ultimate Pennywise, based on the character’s appearance in ‘It: Chapter Two’.

This new 7″ scale Ultimate Pennywise figure features an entirely new sculpt from head to toe! It will be packaged with a number of alternative heads and hands, as well as his iconic red balloon when it releases in March 2020. Check out the full release info from NECA below!

From the newly released IT: Chapter Two, the nightmarish clown returns! It’s been 27 years and the Losers Club must find a way to defeat it once and for all.

Based on Bill Skarsgård’s portrayal of the shape-shifting creature, this 7″ scale figure features an all-new body to showcase Pennywise’s costume change in the second movie. To recreate the most terrifying scenes from the film, the fully articulated figure has four interchangeable heads, plus interchangeable hands and red balloon.

Comes in collector-friendly deluxe window box packaging with opening flap.

Super7 Gets Super Spooky

This week we are set to celebrate Halloween and the team at Super7 is really ready to show some holiday spirit with some spooky new horror themed 3.75″ scale ReAction Figures that are available now!

First up is a pair of figures based on the cult John Carpenter classic ‘They Live’! Fans of the film will soon be able to pick up both a Male Ghoul and a Female Ghoul aliens. Sadly no word yet on if we may eventually see figures of Rowdy Roddy Piper or Keith David’s characters in the future, but keep your fingers crossed!

They have also announced a second wave of ‘Universal Monsters’ ReAction Figures that feature some fancy newly designed cardbacks! The new wave is comprised of six figures, including Dracula, The Phantom Of The Opera, The Invisible Man, Frankenstein’s Monster, Bride Of Frankenstein, and the Gill Man (based on his appearance in ‘Revenge Of The Creature’)!

All of the above mentioned figures are available now directly from Super7 for $18 each.
