family guy orville

No matter if this grinds Peter’s gears or not, this is all good news for fans of ‘The Orville’ as we’ve just learned from Seth MacFarlane that the show will not only be returning this year but that it won’t have a ‘Family Guy‘ crossover. Rumors of the crossover and a delayed second season surfaced at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

Previously we heard from executive producer Rich Appe who said that “I sent the script on a slow boat [to approve]. But we end up live on the bridge of ‘The Orville.’ We’ll see.”  When it comes to a crossover, either MacFarlane or the execs seem to have vetoed this which is probably for the best as this couldn’t possibly end up being good for ‘The Orville’ fans, even those of us who like both shows.

MacFarlane took to Twitter and stopped both of these rumors cold with a single Tweet:

While no release date was listed meaning that it could still premiere later than its previous Fall time slot, it sounds like we’ll be getting another voyage with the crew of ‘The Orville’ sooner than later. There was a valid concern that this could have been pushed back to a 2019 release as we’ve seen in shows like ‘Game of Thrones‘ but that thankfully doesn’t look to be the case.

Are you happy to hear that ‘Family Guy’ and ‘The Orville’ won’t be crossing over or is this a concept that you felt would resonate with fans? Do you think we’ll still get a Fall release for the second season of ‘The Orville’? Share your thoughts below!
