In a great little tribute to her father, Patty Jenkins based the story of Steve Trevor on her father for ‘Wonder Woman‘. It wasn’t something she had shared with the cast and crew prior to the film’s release and didn’t want it to change audience opinions so it is only now, months after the film’s release that she has opened up about it. With ‘Wonder Woman’ being the critical darling of the DCEU going so far as to have Warner Brothers launching an awards campaign for what Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot were able to bring to the big screen, it is no surprise it has a few hidden personal touches.

When Jenkins opened up about Chris Pine’s performance and the character she stated that:

“Here’s the funny thing: it is literally the story [of my father]. The true story that not everybody knows is that my father was an American fighter pilot who flew from Europe. I didn’t want anybody to know when we were shooting… I didn’t want people to come onto set and be nervous. I was like I’m not nervous, I’m ok. It’s been a long time and I’m so honored to bring him back in this way.”

With that in mind, you can’t help but wonder what personal experiences that Jenkins may slip into ‘Wonder Woman 2. Still, it probably felt even better for Jenkins that so many have praised his acting in the part while knowing deep down that it was a partial tribute to her father as well.

What situations do you think may appear in ‘Wonder Woman 2’ for Jenkins to add a bit of personal narrative? Armed with the knowledge that this version of Trevor was based off of her father does that add or take away from the character in your eyes? Share your thoughts below!
